From time to time we hear comments from brides who wished they got a certain shot taken on the day, or they can't believe that the photographer didn't get a picture of a particular group of people. It is disappointing to miss some of those special moments, but in the excitement of the day it can very easily happen.

 

Whilst the memories and emotions of the day will remain inside of you forever, it is nice to be able to have a physical reminder that you can treasure and share with family and friends for years to come.

 

One way to ensure that you come away with all of the captured memories you would like is to create a list of your "must-have" shots and provide this to your photographer. Whilst some photographers prefer to use a more organic approach on the day, rather than following a structured list, at least if they are aware of your intentions they can make a conscious effort to address these over the course of the day.

 

It is also important that you familiarise the photographer with the who's who of the bridal party and family, as this will help them to arrange those shots without having to bother you and also get some of those great candid shots! Generally, the photographer will have a good idea of what they need to shoot during the day such as getting ready, at the ceremony and special moments at the reception like cutting the cake and the first dance, but often the family photos can get get forgotten. Some suggestions for important shots to include in your list are:
